Ruby Solution (“we,” “our,” or “us”) operates the Ruby Lens mobile application (the “App”). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use Ruby Lens. Please read this policy carefully. If you disagree with its terms, please discontinue use of the App.


1. Information We Collect

1.1 Information You Provide

  • Account Information: When you sign in via Google or Apple, we receive your name and email address from those providers.
  • Translation Scans: Photos or images you capture within the App for translation purposes.

1.2 Information Collected Automatically

  • Device Information: Device type, operating system version, unique device identifiers, and mobile network information.
  • Usage Data: App features used, frequency of use, crash reports, and performance data.
  • Log Data: IP address, access times, and pages or screens visited within the App.

1.3 Camera & Storage Permissions

Ruby Lens requires access to your device’s camera to capture images for translation. Scan history is stored locally on your device. We do not upload your photos to our servers except as needed to process a translation request, after which they are immediately discarded.


2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Provide, operate, and maintain the Ruby Lens App
  • Process translation requests and deliver results
  • Authenticate your identity via Google or Apple Sign-In
  • Sync your scan history across devices (when online)
  • Improve App performance, features, and user experience
  • Monitor and analyze usage trends and technical issues
  • Respond to your support requests or inquiries
  • Comply with legal obligations

3. Data Storage & Security

Your translation history and scan data are stored locally on your device by default. When you are online and signed in, certain data may sync to secure cloud storage to enable cross-device access.

We implement industry-standard security measures including encryption in transit (TLS) and at rest. However, no method of electronic transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.


4. Sharing of Information

We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information to third parties. We may share information in the following limited circumstances:

  • Service Providers: Trusted third-party vendors who assist in operating the App (e.g., translation APIs, cloud hosting, analytics), bound by confidentiality agreements.
  • Authentication Providers: Google and Apple, solely for the purpose of signing you in.
  • Legal Requirements: If required by law, court order, or government authority.
  • Business Transfers: In the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of all or part of our assets, your data may be transferred as part of that transaction.

5. Third-Party Services

Ruby Lens integrates with third-party services to deliver its functionality, including:

  • Google Sign-In — subject to Google’s Privacy Policy
  • Apple Sign-In — subject to Apple’s Privacy Policy
  • Translation & OCR APIs — image text data is transmitted to these services solely to process translation requests and is not retained by them beyond the request.

6. Children’s Privacy

Ruby Lens is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will promptly delete it.


7. Your Rights & Choices

Depending on your location, you may have the following rights regarding your personal data:

  • Access & Portability: Request a copy of the data we hold about you.
  • Correction: Request correction of inaccurate information.
  • Deletion: Request deletion of your account and associated data.
  • Opt-Out: Opt out of non-essential data collection via your device’s privacy settings.

8. Data Retention

We retain your personal data only as long as necessary to provide our services or as required by law. If you delete your account, we will delete or anonymize your data within 30 days, except where retention is required for legal or compliance purposes.


9. International Users

Ruby Lens is operated from the Netherlands. If you access the App from outside the Netherlands, your information may be transferred to and processed in countries with different data protection laws. By using the App, you consent to such transfers. We take appropriate safeguards to ensure your data is protected in accordance with this Privacy Policy.


10. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last Updated” date at the top of this page and notify you via the App or email if the changes are significant. Your continued use of Ruby Lens after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the new policy.
